History:

Venom "Punished" Snake

Personality:

""Heaven's not my kind of place anyway..."

At first glance Venom Snake comes across as a grizzled, battle-hardened soldier with an insatiable love for war. He is feared by many as the legendary "Big Boss." His enemies fear him and his allies worship him. He inspires many to fight under his flag and to obey his every order due to the aura of authority he holds captive over men. Venom Snake believes in freedom, duty and comradeship above all else. War is all he's ever known, so this would be a natural course for him to take. The men serving under him would gladly give their lives to the cause of Diamond Dogs, his organisation he shares with Commander Miller and Ocelot. An example of this is all the loyal soldiers that join Diamond Dogs after being brought back via the Fulton Recovery System. As soon as they learn that Big Boss brought them back they jump at the chance to serve under him whilst on Mother Base, saluting at every possible chance when they see him. He is as they say, one of a kind. A diamond in the rough.

Venom is a tough son of a bitch to put it mildly. This resistance to most pain and hardship shines through when he needs to push himself to survive. A good example of this is when he woke up after being in a coma for nine years. Upon waking up in hospital after his nine year coma, Venom came to. He showed remarkable resilience against all odds, having survived the helicopter crash with Miller and the soldiers of MSF inside. His determination shone when in the hospital in Cyprus when a strange figure calling himself "Ishmael" seemingly saves Venom from an assassin known as Quiet. He wrenched himself out of the bed, hardly able to walk and pushed himself to the limit, stumbling around the wards, avoiding gun fire from Cipher's forces where he eventually found his way out to join Ocelot on his horse. His journey to Diamond Dogs happened thereon after.

"I won't scatter your sorrow to the heartless sea. I will always be with you. Plant your roots in me. I won't see you end as ashes. You're all diamonds."

Venom has a soft and caring side to his tough nature. In his past life he used to be a medic for Militaires sans Frontieres. This was before he was genetically altered to become the real Big Boss's double. Examples of Venom's softer side can be seen during the scene on Mother Base where many of the Diamond Dog soldiers become infected with an unknown virus. Venom has to dispose of the dead bodies somehow, usually the men were given a sea burial, as instructed by Miller. Yet, Snake had loved the men like family and wanted to give them more of a purpose even in death. So, he had their cremated bodies made into diamonds to be worn on each man's uniform. Snake himself had a diamond of his men worn on his left shoulder. To remember. Loyalty is everything. This softer side of Snake even caught Miller by a pleasant surprise, who had no idea that he wasn't even looking at the real Big Boss he used to know. These are the subtle differences that distinguish Venom Snake from Big Boss. Perhaps, the real Big Boss wouldn't have bothered in making the dead comrades into diamonds? Yet, Venom did.

Venom is a rather quiet man who prefers actions over dialogue. He doesn't talk as much as his double, Big Boss, who preferred to use more dialogue over the radio to Miller back at MSF. Venom is a rather withdrawn and self-contained man who likes to get things done without attracting too much attention or making a fuss. This could due to partly come from his job as a soldier who has to infiltrate enemy bases without attracting enemy attention. On Mother Base Venom prefers to quietly smoke his Phantom cigar than to talk to engage in conversation. Obviously, he does talk back and engage in conversation with the men or Miller and Ocelot, offering feedback and generally being cordial. Yet, he finds small talk to be a time wasting activity and would rather just jump into the chopper and go and complete a mission. He can spend days out in the field with just radio contact over the iDroid as his only method of communication back at base. Spending time hiding in toilets and dumpsters whilst on missions is sometimes the norm for Venom. Silence is golden, as they say.

"When you pick up a gun, there's always a chance you'll die for nothing."

Venom places his faith in others a lot, especially his men. He's willing to give people a chance no matter what their background is. He meets the assassin Quiet out in the Afghan wilderness and immediately places his trust in her because she saved his life during an attack from Cipher on the chopper they were in. Also, she never tried to kill him after that since their stand off in the desert. Kaz, however, is totally against Quiet, since he believes she is working with Cipher, due to her possessing super human speed and agility. She also tried to kill Snake, so that would explain his lack of trust towards her.

"Kaz, I'm having dejavu here."

Snake is a huge inspirational role model to his men and anyone else who happens to meet him. During a scene when fighting breaks out amongst the men on Mother Base, Venom steps in to try and stop the brawling. In turn, he ends up getting stabbed by one of the brawling men, doing nothing but allowing the man to push the blade in. Why should he fight back? Since he wanted to prove that fighting didn't get you anywhere and loyalty was the way to go. After the fight on Mother Base the men didn't fight with each other after that, since they saw the error of their ways seeing their Boss become injured due to their reckless attitudes. Venom's loyalty and trust extends as far out as seeing the other men as family. He has no other family. The men, the Diamond Dogs, is all he has and seeks to treasure them as if they were his brothers in arms.

Snake is one to make sacrifices to save others. This can be seen during the outbreak of the vocal cord parasite disease. It affected the whole of Mother Base and Venom had to go into the contaminated area to try and stop the spread of the virus. He didn't want anyone else to enter, so made sure guards were placed at the door of the contaminated building. He did this because he didn't want anyone else to die needlessly because of the outbreak. His sacrifice did not go unnoticed by the men. This, in fact, strengthened Venom's statement of just how brave and sacrificial a man he is.

As far as relationships go he isn't really interested in women or men that much, since he puts the mission and his comrades before any socialising with others. He does develop a fondness towards Quiet, as they get to know one another out on missions. They can often be seen looking at one another and even playing out in the rain on Mother Base in one scene where Quiet opens up more of herself to Snake. Kaz is another story. Kaz once had a deep relationship with the real Boss back at MSF. The relationship had weakened over the nine years Venom was in a coma but there is still a spark somewhere. It's more of a bromance between Venom and Kaz, since they often share glances which linger into a deep stare. Something is there that they both share. Memories? Perhaps. Yet, Venom cares for Kaz still as much as he used to, it's just time had caused them to be apart for so long.

Abilities/Skills:

- Weapons- skilled in the use of many weapons, including tranquilisers, grenade launchers, RPGS, grenades, decoys, explosives and machine guns to name a few.

- Hand to Hand combat- He is skilled in hand-to-hand combat as well as the use of a knife. He is a master at CQC, due to his mentor, The Boss, teaching it to him many years before.

- Languages- Snake can speak English, Russian, French, some Spanish and Afrikaans. He also knows a little Japanese, due to his close friendship with comrade, Kazuhira Miller.

- Survival and bushcraft- Snake is proficient in survival techniques to survive many different environments such as woodland, desert, jungle, frozen tundra and mountainous regions. He is able to make a camp and forage for nearby flora and fauna also.

- Infiltration- Snake is a master at sneaking into places he needs to infiltrate for missions. He can pick locks, usually with a pin and can remain unnoticed whilst doing so. He can also blend in with his surroundings and attempt to go unnoticed when enemies are around.

- Endurance level- Snake is able to withstand more pain than most men due to his training as a soldier over the years. He has been tortured many times in the past and has survived, where other men would have died.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths:

Being skilled out on the battlefield is one of Snake's strongest strengths, as he is often alone and has only his wits and abilities to rely on. He can make use of any given situation to try and stay alive. Using his trusty cardboard box, he has proven that this skill of stealth, hiding whilst fooling his enemies at the same time, gives Snake his edge on the battlefield. Since, he doesn't have anyone else to rely on whilst out in the field he needs to use his stealth skills to try and stay alive.

Snake is a good leader of men, demonstrating that he can lead an army of men back on Mother Base. His skills at boosting morale helps give the men courage and hope, which increases their mood and also their productivity.

These strengths show that Snake is one to use his initiative and also his combat skills whilst on active duty.

Weaknesses:

Snake prides himself on how good he is at killing enemies. This makes him a very efficient killer and manmade weapon. He prides himself on his prowess on the battlefield using his wits and weapons to solve and complete missions. Snake's objective is usually against killing enemies, instead knocking them out or using other non-lethal methods, yet he won't hesitate to pull the trigger if it's a life or death decision. This method of warfare comes with Snake's impressive body count due to his reputation as the "Legendary Big Boss." Some may view this as one of his biggest weaknesses. Him not being able to lay down his weapons and resisting the urge to kill out on the battlefield.

Snake can also come across as quite distant towards those not living in a war environment. He finds it hard to socialise away from the battlefield, since he's spent most of his life at war. It's all he's ever known. He would find it hard to integrate back into a world where there is peace, since his body is hardwired to that of a battle-hardened veteran.

Items:

• Fulton Recovery Balloon pouch- This contains the Fulton Recovery system balloons, which Snake can use to Fulton men, animals and equipment from the battlefield.

• His Wu Silent tranquilizer pistol suited out with silencer and extended ammo clip.

• A Phantom Cigar- an electronic cigarette.

• Clothing – His sneaking suit made of a specialised material similar to Kevlar weave with various interlocking segments for easy movement, whilst providing ample protection against most attacks from enemies. Example: Here

• iDroid – An electronic device used to contact both Ocelot and Kaz back at Mother Base. It also provides intel on enemies, targets and has a map facility. Snake can use it to summon the helicopter and Fulton down supplies from Mother Base via ammo/item drop.

• His CQC combat knife- This he uses during CQC with the enemy. He uses the blade during interrogations and can also use it to kill, but rarely uses it to take a man's life.

• A Sony Walkman which allows Snake to hook up the Walkman to the iDroid so that he can listen to tapes.

• A Cardboard Box. Snake uses these out on missions to hide from enemies and can also be used to knock down enemies whilst sliding.

SAMPLES
Network Sample:

[The feed switches on to show a rather scarred and confused man sporting an eye patch over his right eye with a horn of shrapnel protruding from his right temple. Venom Snake is sitting on the end of his bunk, clenching and unclenching his prosthetic metal arm. He's still contemplating on how he ended up aboard the ship.]

Never thought I'd end up in space.

[Because this isn't a dream and he isn't dead. He's in space and slowly getting used to the idea. His iDroid is missing so can't contact Mother Base, which irks him somewhat. In fact, he's rather annoyed at the fact of being snatched from the Afghan desert into this room with a bunk.]

Does someone want to tell me what's going on around here? Because I'll be damned if I know where the hell I am right now.

[Snake gets up and clicks his neck. He's been sitting down for far too long already. Perhaps, the Captains know what's going on? They should do since someone's got to be steering this ship.]

Tell the Captains that Big Boss wants to see them.

[Because this devil has questions.]
